Monica joined CEA Group in September 2012. At the time, she managed the financial statement preparation and audit reporting with independent auditors, tax reporting and research as well as any other accounting responsibilities for all private equity funds of CEA Group and Atlantic American Opportunities Funds. Currently, Monica serves as Director of Tax/Controller overseeing the tax reporting and tax research for our private equity funds, including Atlantic American EB-5 funds. Monica’s responsibilities with respect to CEA Group and Atlantic American’s management of domestic and international private equity funds include tax return preparation and filings, GAAP financial statement preparation and recordings, as well as tax research as it relates to the formation and ongoing activities of the private equity funds.
Prior to joining CEA, Monica worked as a Senior Tax Associate in the Tax Department of KPMG, LLP in Chicago. As part of the Financial Services Group, Monica prepared taxes for private equity funds, financial institutions and high net-wealth individuals. Monica also has worked for a local medical/dental tax practice in California, as well as a member firm of the BDO Seidman Alliance, providing taxation services to a variety of clients.
Monica attended Brigham Young University where she earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Accountancy in Taxation degrees, with an International Tax Certificate and a Minor in French. She is also a CPA licensed in the states of Florida and Illinois, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
